New home Grand opening in Mossdale Landing.
When builders compete for clients buyers come out ahead.
There are about 5 different builders in Lathrop now that I would consider affordable or good deals. For example, the difference between a simular new home with 2300 sq.ft. one can go for 630K in one development and 430K in another. These homes are more affordable but usually come with a smaller lot but 200K is a big difference for a few thousand sq.ft of lot space. The best example of a affordable priced new home in Lathrop I have seen is a 2300 sqft brand new home in Lathrop for 434K. If you bought a 2300 sq.ft brand new home in Tracy you are looking at spending at least 580K, Heck a usual price for a 2300 sq.ft home in Lathrop is around 500K+.

Interesting Facts about Mossdale Bridge Located in Lathrop:

History of the Mossdale bridge comes from a great site called California Ghost Towns......... This site is highly recommended. You can find information on about 30 ghost town sites in San Joaquin alone. For a history buff like me this is candy.
Mossdale is a naturally shallow place in the San Joaquin River and once called El Pescadero (the fishing place) by the early explorers has became a well used crossing for them, the Indians, the miners and the Mormons as they traveled between the Central Valley and the Pacific coast. In 1843 the name El Pescadero was also given to a 34,000 acre land grant which included Mossdale. In 1848 John Doak and his partner Bosnell built a boat/ferry from Tule Elk hides and willow poles and ferried miners and Mormons bound for Stockton and New Hope across the river.
The fee for such passage was as follows:
Man with horse...........$3.00
Wagon.......................$8.00
Man on foot...........$1.00
William Moss purchased the ferry in 1856 and operated it for years. A hotel was built in the 1860 and there is record of a post office as late as 1911. With the coming of the railroad Mossdale became the most logical place for a bridge so in 1869 the first bridge to span the San Joaquin River for the transcontinental railroad was built. In 1890 the ferry was abandoned with the building of an iron truss bridge.
Mossdale bridge is still located in south Lathrop and is located right at the highway 5-120 intersection. You can see the bridge and even walk across it. There is also a nice little park where you can launch your boat or hike the trails.
